Director of Texas Schools

Remote (Dallas–Fort Worth preferred)

Rang is expanding into Texas and hiring a leader to own the market. You’ll lead our first DFW cohort of about 5,000 students to measurable attendance gains, then turn those results into renewals, new school partnerships, and local funding. K–12 teaching or school leadership experience and deep ties to Texas education preferred.

About the Company

Rang is building the rewards platform for schools. Our mission is simple: improve student outcomes.

Rang helps schools reinforce positive academic behaviors by connecting students and families to digital rewards funded by corporate sponsors. Schools get a powerful tool to improve attendance and engagement. Sponsors get measurable social impact tied directly to student outcomes.

About the Role

Rang is expanding into Texas — and we’re looking for a leader to spearhead it.

As Director of Texas Schools, you will be the face of Rang in the state: driving successful implementation with our school partners, building relationships across the Texas education community, and developing the partnerships that allow us to grow. This is a rare opportunity to own a market from day one and build something that genuinely transforms student outcomes.

The first goal is clear: prove impact. You’ll start by leading our initial DFW cohort of approximately 5,000 students and ensuring Rang delivers measurable improvement in attendance.

The second goal is sustainability. Once we prove impact, your job is to help turn those results into renewals, new school partnerships, and sustainable funding that allows us to reach many more Texas students.

This role is built for someone who has taught or led in K–12 public schools and understands firsthand the realities facing teachers, school leaders, students, and families. We’re looking for someone with deep relationships in Texas education who is excited to take that experience and build something new.

This is not a role for someone who needs day-to-day direction. It’s a role for someone with entrepreneurial fire — who is energized by ownership, thrives in ambiguity, and wants to build something that matters.

Responsibilities

Program Success

  • Own school outcomes: attendance improvement is the north star
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Texas schools throughout the year
  • Ensure schools are set up for success from onboarding through year-end
  • Monitor attendance and engagement data, troubleshoot issues, and identify where schools need additional support
  • Work closely with school leaders to strengthen implementation when programs are off track
  • Gather feedback from students, families, and educators to understand what’s working and continuously improve the program
  • Build the case for renewal by delivering real, measurable impact

School Sourcing & Partnerships

  • Build deep relationships across the Texas education landscape
  • Identify and develop partnerships with Texas school districts, charter networks, and campuses
  • Build and manage a pipeline of school relationships from first contact through signed agreement
  • Prioritize schools where Rang can have the greatest impact and where leaders have the capacity and commitment to execute
  • Leverage Rang’s existing playbook while adapting it for the Texas market

Sustainability & Local Partnerships

  • Turn strong school outcomes into renewals and expanded partnerships
  • Recruit local partners — brands, sports teams, foundations, businesses, and civic organizations — to support student rewards and program growth
  • Build and manage a local partner network that keeps the reward supply strong
  • Help develop a sustainable long-term funding model for Rang in Texas
  • Leverage Rang’s existing partnerships while developing Texas-specific relationships

What Success Looks Like in Year One

  • Measurable attendance improvement across our initial Texas schools
  • Strong implementation and engagement across the DFW pilot
  • Strong school renewal signals for year two with 20,000+ Texas students enrolled in Rang
  • A growing network of districts, charter networks, and local partners

Competencies and Qualifications

  • Experience teaching or leading in a K–12 public or public charter school is preferred
  • Deep ties to the Texas education landscape — you know the schools, the districts, and the people
  • Deep understanding of the realities facing teachers and school leaders
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: comfortable building in ambiguity and energized by ownership
  • Exceptional relationship-builder who can earn the trust of educators and school leaders
  • Strong analytical instincts and comfort using data to understand outcomes and improve implementation
  • Ability to sell a vision and follow through on the details
  • Mission-driven — you care deeply about improving outcomes for students and families
  • Ability to manage the full lifecycle of a school partnership: sourcing, onboarding, program management, renewal, and expansion
  • Experience in sponsorship, community partnerships, fundraising, or business development is a plus, but not required

Why This Role Is Special

Texas is one of Rang’s first major market expansions — and the Director of Texas Schools will help define what that looks like. You won’t be stepping into a rigid structure. You’ll be shaping the strategy alongside leadership, with real ownership over a market and a model that’s already proven to work.

Rang has:

  • Explosive early traction and strong school interest
  • A product that schools, students, and families love
  • The chance to solve one of the most important problems in K–12 education

Our Culture

We’re mission-driven, direct, entrepreneurial, and human. We care a lot and we move quickly. We believe that if you love what you’re doing, work and life integrate rather than compete.

About Our Supporters

Rang is backed by the Lefkofsky Family, Lightbank, and the Charter School Growth Fund. The Charter School Growth Fund is a leading national investor in K–12 education. Lightbank is a leading venture firm behind companies such as Groupon, Tempus, Echo Global Logistics, InnerWorkings, and Mediaocean. Through these partnerships, Rang benefits from deep venture-building expertise and an unmatched national network.
